Esala Perahara
Esala perahara held annually to pay to the homage to the sacred Tooth Relic of Buddha. Tooth Relic buried in Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy. This procession was started by a King named 'Wimaladharmasooriya' who has the king of the past.
Rooth Relic is carrried on the elephant (Maligawa elephant) Esala perahara begins with 'Kap situweema' and and the end with a 'Diya kepeema' ritual. And then they start the 'Kumbal perahara' for five days and 'Randoli perahara' begins on sixth day. Fifth Randoli perahara is the grant Randoli procession. Perahara is most cultural event of Buddhism. Grant Randoli perahara is the most attractive procession. caparisoned, elephants, dancers, and whip-crackers go in procession. specialy Wes dancers dance in front of the Tooth Relic.
Women don't parcipate to the dance in the palace procession. ' Devala perahara' begins after the palace procession. They are

Vishnu devala perahara
Katharagama devala perahara
Pattini devala perahara
Then Randoli perahara is ends with 'Diya kepeema' ritual. On completion of the perahara would lead a procession consisting of the nilames of sathara maha devala and and the Nilame rural devalaya to the president's pavilion carrying a formal letter (Sannasa) known as the perahara sandeshaya to the president stating the successful completion of the annual Esala perhara. The president who meet and receive the sannasa at the entrance to the president's pavilion.
