Vesak Festival
Vesak is the most important festival in Buddhism. It's commemorates the birth, enlightenment and dead ( Parinirvana ) of Buddha. His birth was Lumbini, enlightenment was under the Bodi tree in Bodhi gaya and reached Nirvana in Kushinagar in India. Vesak festival is celebrated on Poya day in the month of may.
That day the core practices often include visits to temples, making offerings, meditating and participating in acts of charity. Thailand, Nepal, Indonesia, Myanmar, India also celebrate the Vesak festival. Lighting candles or lanterns is a common tradition during Vesak. Its symbolizing the light of wisdom dispelling darkness.
